Nepal SBI Bank Ltd. (NSBL) as a socially responsible organization demonstrates a significant commitment to society, actively supporting and cooperating to bring about sustainable social and economic development in the country. The beneficiaries of the Bank span needy individuals from all sections of the community across different parts of the country.
NSBL,in alignment with the principles of Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), continues to integrate sustainability and social value into its policies and practices. Recognizing that responsible banking extends beyond financial inclusion, the Bank strives to create a long-term positive impact through its initiatives that promote environmental conservation, inclusive education, social welfare, community resilience and many more.
The Bank has actively supported cultural preservation, disaster preparedness, access to education, environmental protection and empowerment of marginalized communities across Nepal. From contributing to the reconstruction of heritage sites and improving public amenities to facilitating education for underprivileged children, enhancing mobility for differently abled individuals and advancing financial literacy among diverse groups, each initiative reflects NSBL’s dedication for building a more equitable and sustainable society.
The focus areas of Bank’s CSR activities include Education, Health, Humanitarian Aid & Relief, Environment, Financial Literacy Program, Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and other areas skill develpoment, trainings, sport items, infrastructure development etc, to deprived and targeted segments.
Education
Towards promoting inclusive and quality education, NSBL has undertaken numerous CSR initiatives across the country. Through these initiatives, NSBL has reached to community schools across all provinces, benefiting a significant number of students from marginalized communities with limited access to basic facilities. NSBL has provided school bags, school uniforms, stationery items, smart boards, computers and play equipment to enhance students’ learning environment and overall comfort. Many of the beneficiary students face financial constraints and are unable to meet their basic needs, including access to essential educational resources and adequate warm clothing during the winter season. Several of the supported schools also lacked sufficient infrastructure and budget, limiting their ability to provide even the minimum required facilities. NSBL’s support has helped address these challenges by strengthening school infrastructure, improving access to learning materials and creating a safer, more inclusive and supportive educational environment for students. Additionally, the Bank has also distributed bicycles to meritorious students in Madhesh Province to encourage school attendance and reduce barriers caused by distance. Further, NSBL has supported underprivileged and orphan students by providing educational materials and essential items to institutions such as Nepal Baal Sewa Foundation and students of Musahar Community. Through financial literacy programs conducted alongside these activities, the Bank continues to promote awareness on savings, digital banking and responsible financial behavior among young learners. These efforts collectively reflect NSBL’s strong commitment to fostering access, equity and quality in education nationwide.
Health
In line with its commitment to promoting community health and well-being, NSBL has carried out various CSR initiatives across the country. NSBL has supported an awareness program conducted by CGI Birgunj on the occasion of International Day of Yoga 2025, promoting the importance of physical and mental health. In addition, the Bank distributed wheelchairs to differently abled individuals in Siddharthanagar Municipality, Bhairahawa and installed a tap water system at Shree Panchakriti Baijnath Ma. Vi., Kanchanpur to improve access to clean water. Similarly, the Bank had also provided financial support to Birat Bahira Ma.Vi., Biratnagar to install dip boring at the school premises to improve access to clean water. Furthermore, blood donation programs were also conducted across all seven provinces, reinforcing the Bank’s commitment to saving lives and fostering a culture of compassion and social responsibility.
Humanitarian Aid & Relief
NSBL has remained committed to supporting Humanitarian Aid and Relief efforts across the country. The Bank has provided essential rescue materials, including a raft boat and other rescue items, to Nepal Police Headquarters, Naxal, Kathmandu to strengthen emergency response capacity. Similarly, the Bank has extended relief support to marginalized and vulnerable communities such as the Musahar, Chepang and Raute communities by distributing food, clothing and other basic necessities. The Bank has also provided basic necessary items and financial support to various old age homes, orphanage homes such as Manavsewa Ashram which works for the benefit of homeless and physically or mentally challenged individuals from the streets, Nepal Children’s Organization, Bal Mandir, Naxal, Kathmandu which is home to 107 children, Samaj Kalyan Kendra, Briddhashram, Pashupati, an organization dedicated to the protection, care and well-being of elderly individuals from across the country. These initiatives aim to ensure safety and resilience among affected people during times of hardship. Through such timely interventions, NSBL continues to uphold its responsibility as a socially conscious institution dedicated to extending care and solidarity to those in need.
Environment
Demonstrating its commitment to environmental protection and sustainable development, Nepal SBI Bank Ltd. (NSBL) has undertaken several CSR initiatives aimed at preserving natural and cultural heritage while promoting ecological balance. The Bank has extended financial support to the Lumbini Development Trust to assist ongoing conservation and cleanliness programs, including efforts to protect the environment, improve water supply, and maintain pathways for pilgrims and visitors. In addition, NSBL has supported tree plantation programs at Kailash Danda, Pashupatinath temple premises, reinforcing its dedication to enhancing greenery and combating climate change. Through these initiatives, the Bank continues to promote environmental stewardship and contribute towards a cleaner, greener and more sustainable Nepal.
Financial Literacy Program
NSBL has been actively conducting financial literacy programs nationwide, reaching students, pensioners, entrepreneurs and marginalized communities ensuring that financial knowledge reaches all sections of society from urban to rural communities. The bank has supported SOLVE Nepal in conducting financial literacy programs for farmers. In addition, while implementing CSR programs in schools, the Bank has been promoting financial literacy alongside the distribution of essential items to students. Furthermore, the Bank has also been independently conducting dedicated financial literacy programs, focusing exclusively on enhancing financial awareness and knowledge among targeted communities. In addition, beyond serving a large pensioner customer base, the Bank has also played an active role in promoting financial literacy among ex-servicemen and their families.
Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)
NSBL has continued to advance its commitment towards the Sustainable Development Goals through diverse CSR initiatives implemented across the country. By supporting quality education, healthcare, environmental protection, financial literacy and community empowerment, the Bank has reached a broad section of society and contributed meaningfully to social and economic well-being. The Bank supports environmental cleanliness at the Pashupatinath Temple through cleaning services and equipment, contributing to pollution control and SDG commitments. The initiative also creates employment opportunities for marginalized communities, supporting inclusive and sustainable development. NSBL’s CSR initiatives broadly contribute to several SDGs such as Quality Education (SDG 4), Clean Water and Sanitation (SDG 6), Decent Work and Economic Growth (SDG 8), Reduced Inequalities (SDG 10), Sustainable Cities and Communities (SDG 11) and Climate Action (SDG 13)

NSBL has actively supported social welfare initiatives in collaboration with local authorities and key stakeholders, reinforcing its commitment to community development and public safety. As part of these efforts, NSBL provided CCTV cameras to Chaudandigadhi Municipality, Udayapur, contributing to enhanced urban security and public safety. Similarly, reflective traffic boards were provided to Damauli Traffic Police Office Tanahun, aimed at improving traffic awareness and ensuring safer roads for both pedestrians and drivers. Beyond these initiatives, NSBL continues to support and
participate in various social welfare activities in collaboration with other banks, NGOs, INGOs and enabling organizations, fostering impactful and sustainable community-focused outcomes.
Additionally, coinciding 32nd Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Bank, NSBL conducted more than 32 CSR activities across all Provinces on the same day. The CSR activities carried out during this significant milestone were designed to comprehensively cover the various CSR sectors, with strong emphasis on expanding access to quality education, delivering humanitarian aid and relief to vulnerable communities and providing financial literacy among diverse population groups. These programs were conducted at various locations such as Limchungbung, Belbari, Dudhe, Bhojpur and Dharan of Koshi Province, Bouddha, Narayangarh, and Hetauda of Bagmati Province, Gulmi, Abukhaireni, Waling, Shishuwa and Kawasoti of Gandaki Province, Sunchhahari, Kohalpur, Dang, Jitpur, Butwal, Manigram, Rampur Bazar, Gaumukhi, Palpa, Bhairahawa, Lamahi, Parasi, Nepalgunj, Chandrauta, Sandhikharka and Tulsipur of Lumbini Province, Surkhet of Karnali Province and Attariya and Ganyapdhura of Sudurpaschim province reaching out to more than 3,500 beneficiaries. These collective efforts underscore the Bank’s aspiration to serve not just as a financial institution but as a responsible development partner contributing meaningfully to Nepal’s sustainable future.
